Abstract
One of the major thrusts of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation is community extensions service. The University Libraries supports this thrust through “Adopt-A- Library Program”. This program was established in 2009 which aims to provide supplementary materials for instructional needs of the teachers and reading/research needs of the students of the chosen school/ institution; assist in the organization of the materials by cataloging and classifying the materials to facilitate retrieval of information; assure the availability of volunteer staff for the continuance of the program; and provide recommendations in the planning and supervision of the library, its facilities and collection.
The University Libraries is living up with its university mantra “for God and country”. Through its thrust and mantra, the university libraries envisioned to help municipalities and nearby towns in Quezon Province establish their own libraries through Adopt-a-Library Program and be prepared to meet the challenges of K to 12 program and Asean integration. The researchers would also like to encourage other higher educational institutions to help in this kind of endeavor. Most academic libraries have no community extension service. With this, the researchers aim to share the experience and possibly improve the process thru shared best practices of other institutions.
