| dc.description.abstract | School Libraries are in for a big challenge in the new millennium. The children growing up in the 21st century are exposed in a richly colored, multimedia content. And, they prefer these over texts. School libraries need to level up its programs to be able to create excitement among its school children-patrons. The school library of today must be able to keep the children involved in reading books through making its programs relevant and attuned to the needs of its 21st century patrons. Offering a school library program that today that will reinforce literacy and love for reading among the children must be clearly envisioned and well planned by the librarian. Surfing through the net has led the researcher to gather, adopt and adapt programs from local and international school libraries that shared their programs and ideas online. Have you heard of a book buffet, a Lego Thursday, and a book spine poetry? How about a library makerspace? This presentation will attempt to describe and share some procedures in putting up these library programs aimed at drawing the school children into your school library, changing their views and understanding of what a school library must look like and keeping them actively reading and involved in your library programs. | |
